There are plenty of teams to choose from when trying to determine the very best ones within League Two. Numerous teams have managed to excel themselves not just in recent years, but throughout their long histories. Despite the difficulties in narrowing down the superior performing teams there are clearly a select few that have excelled over all others.
Exeter City
Exeter City Football Club is one of the most famous Devon football teams. They are nicknamed the Grecians. There is debate as to the origins of this name. Their main rivals are Plymouth Argyle. Over the years Exeter has attained a considerable number of title wins. They have even played in league one for a few years before their relegation.
Colchester United
Colchester United Football Club can be found in Essex. They have been around since 1937 and spent much of their early years playing within the Southern Football League. They managed to win the Football Conference title in the 90s and were finally promoted to league two in 1998. Throughout the years Colchester has had an upward trajectory in terms of performance. Their main rivals are Southend United and Norwich City.
Forest Green Rovers
The Gloucestershire based Forest Green Rovers Football Club plays home games at the New Lawn. They are a founding member of the Mid Gloucestershire League. When people look at the history of wins achieved by this team it becomes clear that they are one of the best in all of league two.
Grimsby Town
Grimsby Town Football Club can be found in the North East Lincolnshire area. Their team nickname by fans is the Mariners. Since the late 19th century they have played home matches at the Blundell Park stadium. Grimsby Town is by far the most successful team to come out of Lincolnshire. They have played in the FA Cup semi finals twice and established themselves as a team with high performing players.
