Best Performing Fourth League Teams

The fourth league might not be as high-profile as others in pro football. However, it is safe to say that games of this league still attract considerable attention from both fans and the media.

Although they’re not as revered as the teams in the higher leagues, several of these clubs have excelled nonetheless, in some cases becoming the fourth league’s best performers.

Burnley

Burnley Football Club is found in Lancashire. They have been around since 1882 and are known as The Clarets. This is because of the colour of their home kits.

Burnley was one of the founding members of the original Football League in the 19th Century. The team has won the FA Cup, as well as the coveted Community Shield.

Rotherham

Many fans refer to Rotherham United Football Club as The Millers. They are based in South Yorkshire.

Rotherham FC was originally made up of two teams. These were Rotherham County and Rotherham Town. Eventually, the two teams merged in 1925.

The team’s colours are red and white. The Millers have previously made it to the League Cup final and won the Football League Trophy.

Darlington

Darlington Football Club is another formidable team to watch out for. They can be found in Country Durham. Their home venue for matches is Blackwell Meadows.

Before this they used to play at Feethams. They have won Third Division North titles, including the cup.

Darlington also attained the FA Trophy in 2011.

Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere Rovers Football Club is located in Merseyside. They were originally the Belmont Football Club until they changed their name in 1885.

The team was one of the founding members of Division Three North. They have faced relegation in the past, but still represent a formidable group of players.

In 2000, they made it as far as the Football League Cup final.
